Gatorade Fit is a relatively new addition to the Gatorade family, designed to offer a healthier hydration option for those with active lifestyles.
But is it a healthy option for hydration?
As a professional basketball player and Nutrition Educator, I believe Gatorade Fit is a very healthy alternative to most other sports drinks, but water is still the healthiest drink for hydration.
Gatorade Fit contains only 10 calories per bottle and is naturally sweetened with watermelon juice and stevia.
Comparatively, soda contains approximately 150 calories per 12-ounce can and is typically sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup or sugar, leading to a much higher sugar and calorie content.
Similarly, a traditional-formula Gatorade contains about 140 calories per 20-ounce bottle and is sweetened with sugars like sucrose and dextrose, resulting in a higher calorie and sugar content compared to Gatorade Fit.
Water is the king of hydration drinks, regardless of age. But if you need something a little sweeter, Gatorade Fit wasn’t my taste, but I certainly can recommend it as a healthy hydration beverage.
My Experience with Gatorade Fit
Overall, I appreciate the Gatorade Fit formula and can say I felt better and more energetic after drinking a bottle during my daily walk with my wife.
If you’re looking to lose weight and get in shape, and one of your barriers is low energy during workouts or throughout the day, Gatorade Fit is a good option for you.
However, this wasn’t my favorite-tasting Gatorade product or hydration beverage.
Personally, I preferred the taste of Prime Hydration beverages, which also offer excellent hydration. Despite this, I generally prefer water or coconut water over Gatorade Fit.
That said, if you’re a regular Gatorade or soda drinker looking to reduce your calorie intake, Gatorade Fit is a great alternative.

Stevia has a distinct taste that I usually am a fan of, but I found Gatorade Fit to have an artificial taste when trying the Strawberry Watermelon and Tropical Mango tastes.
