Green tea is one of the healthiest drinks in the world, and there are many reasons why women should drink green tea regularly.
Whether you want to improve your body composition, the appearance of your hair, skin and nails, or simply feel healthier and have more energy, green tea can help women throughout the world look and feel their best!
Here are some of the primary health benefits of green tea for women:
Antioxidants for Hair, Skin and Nails
The list of green tea benefits for women is exhaustive, but there are some reasons women should drink green tea that are more “important” than others. One of these reasons is that drinking green tea is an excellent way for women to improve the condition of their hair, skin, and nails.
If you are like me, you are always looking for new products that make “beauty care” an easier process.
Green tea is one of these products, and it is as natural as they come! For example, according to a study published in The Journal of Nutrition,
“In summary, green tea polyphenols delivered in a beverage were shown to protect skin against harmful UV radiation and helped to improve overall skin quality of women.”
There are a few reasons that drinking green tea can improve your hair, skin and nails, notably because of its antioxidant content.
Unlike other teas, this tea contains epigallocatechin (ECGC). ECGC is one of the most powerful types of antioxidants in the world, and it is a main reason that drinking green tea is great for your body.
Antioxidants protect our bodies form oxidative stress caused by the environment we live in and eliminate free-radical cells. Over time, consuming antioxidants is one of the best-natural solutions to retaining a youthful appearance and feeling younger.
Free-radical cells and pollution-filled environments create dull hair, skin, and nails. Especially for those women who live in New York City, Los Angeles, London, or other big cities- your diet needs to contain even more antioxidants than others!
There are certainly many foods which contain plentiful amounts of antioxidants, but there are hardly any which compare to the benefits of green tea.
Not only can you drink your tea, but you can apply it topically as well. There are many beauty products which contain green tea extract, and you can even apply a used tea bag to your face after drinking! You can use green tea in many different homemade acne remedies.
Either way, it is an effective solution for improving your hair, skin, and nails!
Help with Weight Loss and Staying Fit
There is a good reason that many people drink green tea to lose weight. Unlike thousands of other weight loss products, green tea has clinical proof of being able to help you lose weight. In fact, many people consider green tea to be the best natural pre workout product available.
Not only does the caffeine in green tea increase your metabolism, but the ECGC (epigallocatechin) has unique properties that enhance weight loss efforts even more!
If you are trying to lose weight, drinking green tea before meals is an excellent solution for helping your body digest food better. ECGC has nutrient partitioning properties, blunts insulin and blood sugar increases, and helps your body digest food better.
Especially if you are having a “cheat meal” or you are going to eat a meal high in carbohydrates, a cup of green tea will drastically reduce the amount of food which is converted into body fat.
The weight loss properties of this drink are especially important for women since they naturally have a slower metabolism, and weight loss is generally more difficult.
You can drink green tea any time of day, but the optimal times are in the morning, before meals, and during workouts.
I believe green tea is one of the best teas to drink in the morning and it is a great way to start your day if you want to lose weight.
Most people can handle up to five cups of green tea per day without negative effects of too much caffeine, and you should feel free to drink this much tea per day if you want to!
Green Tea and Breast Cancer
Another significant benefit of green tea for women is that it has positive effects on slowing the development of breast cancer. Breast cancer is a a dangerous and common issue for women. However, science has shown that green tea can have positive influences on reducing the likelihood of developing breast cancer and reducing the damaging affects of it.
As stated by a study published in the Japanese Journal of Cancer Research,
“Our results indicate that increased consumption of green tea prior to clinical cancer onset is significantly associated with improved prognosis of stage I and II breast cancer, and this association may be related to a modifying effect of green tea on the clinical characteristics of the cancer.”
Furthermore, as stated by a different study which was published in the International Journal of Cancer,
“Compared to women who did not drink green tea regularly (i.e., less than once a month), there was a significant trend of decreasing risk with increasing amount of green tea intake, adjusted odds ratios being 1.00, 0.71 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.51–0.99) and 0.53 (95% CI 0.35–0.78), respectively, in association with no, 0–85.7 and >85.7 ml of green tea per day. The significant inverse association between risk of breast cancer and green tea intake remained after further adjustment for other potential confounders, including smoking; alcohol, coffee and black tea intake; family history of breast cancer; physical activity; and intake of soy and dark green vegetables.”
Drinking green tea is a healthy and natural way that women can deal with the risk of breast cancer.
