Therabody Reviews: My Experience with Therabody Products
TheraBody has built a reputation as a pioneer in wellness technology, developing innovative self-care devices that set the industry standard.
In fact, the company was even named one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies” in 2022, a nod to how its cutting-edge technology has changed how people approach recovery and well-being.
As a professional athlete and an avid fitness enthusiast, I’ve tried plenty of self-care tools, but Therabody products are my favorite due to their uncompromising quality and continuous innovation.
I truly believe Therabody is the best self-care brand in the world because each device they release meaningfully improves on the last.
Over the years, they’ve expanded beyond the original Theragun percussive massagers to an entire ecosystem of solutions – from compression boots to vibrating foam rollers to electrical muscle stimulators – giving us new ways to recover, rest, and find relief.
The Benefits of Using Therabody Products for Self-Massage Therapy & Self-Care
Investing in high-quality self-care and recovery tools isn’t just about luxury—it’s about science-backed benefits that enhance performance, reduce discomfort, and promote overall well-being.
The combination of percussive therapy, compression therapy, and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) has transformed my recovery routine and helped me maintain a high level of performance as a professional athlete.
Here’s a breakdown of the key benefits these tools provide:
Faster Muscle Recovery & Reduced Soreness
One of the biggest benefits of self-massage therapy is its ability to speed up recovery and minimize post-workout soreness.
Tools like the Theragun G5 Pro use percussive therapy to increase blood circulation, helping to clear metabolic waste (such as lactic acid) from tired muscles.
Scientific research has shown that percussive therapy improves muscle oxygenation and accelerates the healing process.
From personal experience, using the Theragun after intense practices or workouts has prevented next-day soreness and allowed me to recover faster between games.
Improved Mobility & Flexibility
Tight muscles and restricted fascia can limit range of motion, making it harder to move efficiently and increasing the risk of injuries.
Regular self-massage with vibration therapy and foam rolling helps loosen muscle adhesions, increase flexibility, and promote better movement mechanics.
For me, the Therabody Wave Roller has been a game-changer for targeting hard-to-reach areas like the hip flexors, QL, and lats—muscles that often get neglected but play a crucial role in overall movement quality.
The combination of deep pressure and vibration therapy allows for a deeper muscle release, making stretching and mobility work significantly more effective.
Reduced Inflammation & Swelling
Compression therapy, delivered through tools like the Therabody JetBoots Pro, is a proven method for reducing muscle inflammation and swelling.
After long practices or games, I’ve noticed that using compression boots helps drain excess fluid from my legs, preventing that heavy, swollen feeling.
Studies have shown that compression therapy can significantly reduce delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and improve circulation, allowing for faster muscle repair.
Whenever I use my JetBoots after an intense game or travel day, my legs feel fresher and less fatigued.
Enhanced Pain Relief & Muscle Relaxation
One of the underrated benefits of self-massage therapy is its ability to relieve chronic muscle tightness and pain.
Whether it’s from past injuries (like my left posterior labrum tear in college) or just the general wear and tear of a long basketball season, having recovery tools that can target specific pain points has been invaluable.
Devices like the TheraCups (smart cupping therapy) and the PowerDot EMS have been incredibly useful for addressing localized muscle tension and discomfort.
Cupping therapy provides decompression and increased blood flow, while EMS helps with neuromuscular activation and pain relief.
The PowerDot has also been effective for knee pain relief, particularly through VMO activation, which has helped reduce stress on my joints.
Stress Reduction & Relaxation
Self-care isn’t just about physical recovery—it’s also essential for mental relaxation.
Using self-massage tools regularly helps me unwind after stressful days, and I’ve found that taking just 10 minutes with a Theragun or compression boots before bed noticeably lowers my stress levels.
The TheraFace Mask and TheraFace Depuffing Wand have also been useful for skin health and relaxation, particularly for my wife, who enjoys using them at night as part of her self-care routine.
The gentle vibration and light therapy create a spa-like experience at home, helping with both facial muscle tension and relaxation.
Injury Prevention & Body Awareness
One of the most overlooked benefits of self-massage therapy is how it improves body awareness.
Regularly using these tools has helped me identify tight spots and potential problem areas before they become serious injuries.
For example, if I notice my calves or IT bands are extra sore, I’ll adjust my training intensity or focus more on mobility and recovery.
This proactive approach has helped me prevent injuries, ensuring I stay healthy and perform at my best throughout the season.
Therabody Reviews (As of March 2025)
Every new version of a Therabody product that I’ve upgraded to has impressed me with noticeable enhancements, making these devices worth the investment for the results they deliver.
Below, I’ll share my personal Therabody reviews of each product I own, detailing my experiences and how they’ve elevated my self-care routine.
TheraGun G3 Pro – My First Therabody Device
My journey with Therabody began with the TheraGun G3 Pro, the first product I purchased from the brand.
I still remember unboxing it – the G3 Pro looked a bit like a power drill, but once I turned it on and pressed it into a tight knot in my quads, I was sold.
My first impressions were a mix of awe and relief: awe at the sheer power of this handheld percussive massage gun and relief as it melted away the tension I’d been carrying for weeks.
I didn’t expect the benefits of massage guns to be so pronounced, but using the G3 Pro every day quickly taught me how valuable this tool was.
The deep, rapid vibrations felt intense at first, yet somehow incredibly soothing.
As someone who works out frequently, I often dealt with sore legs and stiff back muscles.
The G3 Pro introduced me to the world of percussive therapy, and the benefits were immediate – after a quick session, my muscles felt warmer and looser, and I could literally feel tight spots releasing.
This device was loud and a bit heavy, but it became my go-to recovery tool every night.
It taught me how consistent self-massage could reduce my post-exercise soreness and even help me sleep better by relaxing my body.
In many ways, the G3 Pro is what hooked me on Therabody, showing me the difference that high-quality, science-backed self-care tools can make in recovery.
Therabody PowerDot – Smart Electrical Muscle Stimulation
After falling in love with the TheraGun G3 Pro, the next TheraBody product I purchased was the Therabody PowerDot 2.0 Duo, a smart electrical muscle stimulator (EMS).
In fact, I actually purchased my Power Dot 2.0 before it was owned by TheraBody, but TheraBody quickly purchased the original company who was making the PowerDot shortly after I bought it.
The PowerDot is a set of small, wireless pods that connect to adhesive pads. You stick the pads on your muscles (for example, your quads or lower back), and the pods deliver gentle electric pulses that make your muscles contract.
I started using the PowerDot after long basketball practices when i was playing in Poland under my coach Artur Gronek, who was reknown for long, exhausting, intense practices.
I’d stick the electrodes on my thighs and run a recovery program through the PowerDot app, and within the first couple of sessions I could feel how it helped me reduce Jumper’s Knee pain and helped my legs feel fresher.
The electrical pulses feel like a tingly vibration; it’s oddly relaxing once you get used to it.
Over a few weeks, I noticed my legs felt less fatigued and less sore the day after those brutal practices.
It’s as if the EMS helped flush out some of the muscle tension and lactic acid.
I also used PowerDot on my calves and ankles to reduce stiffness, and it provided noticeable pain relief – likely by boosting blood flow and blocking pain signals (EMS is known to help with pain via TENS, or transcutaneous nerve stimulation).
The impact on muscle recovery after workouts has been significant for me.
While not a replacement for good nutrition, adequate sleep, stretching or full-body massage therapy, the PowerDot became an amazing supplement to my routine.
On days I’m too sore to even use the Theragun, I’ll let the PowerDot do the work.
I also enjoy the “Workout” modes, which I’ve noticed are particulalry beneficial for my quads, as they can be used to activate the VMO and other quad muscles to help reduce knee pain.
It’s surprisingly powerful for such a compact device, and I love that I can control everything on my phone.
I also travel with the PowerDot while on road trips during my basketball career, and it has made a huge difference for me on many occasions.
Using it made me appreciate that Therabody isn’t just a “massage gun” company – they’re truly a self-care technology brand covering multiple aspects of recovery.

TheraBody TheraFace Pro – Facial Therapy with a Mixed Experience
Therabody isn’t just about muscle recovery – they’ve expanded into skincare and facial health, too.
I originally bought the TheraFace Pro in 2022 while playing for Legia Warszawa, after I broke my orbital during a semi-final basketball game.
With the finals approaching fast, I was looking for anything that could speed up my recovery, reduce swelling, and help me get back on the court—even though I knew I’d have to play wearing a mask for protection.
The infrared light therapy and hot/cold attachments seemed like they could help accelerate healing, so I decided to give it a shot.
Incorporating the TheraFace Pro into my recovery routine, I used the red light therapy for a few minutes daily, hoping to stimulate tissue repair, and alternated between cooling and warming attachments to manage swelling.
While I can’t say for sure how much of my recovery was due to the device, I do believe it helped reduce inflammation and speed up healing enough that I could compete in the finals.
However, after I healed up, my wife ended up using the TheraFace Pro more than I did—and she loved it.
This device is essentially a Swiss Army knife for facial care, with microcurrent for muscle toning, LED light therapy (red for wrinkles, blue for acne), a cleansing ring, and percussive attachments for facial massage.
My wife especially enjoyed the LED light therapy sessions and found the warming attachment relaxing, while the cooling ring worked well for depuffing in the morning.
That said, this was the one Therabody product that left me a little disappointed. While it worked great while it lasted, the device broke after only about a year because water got inside, preventing it from charging.
Since I had bought it through a third-party retailer in Poland, Therabody couldn’t replace it easily, which was frustrating.
My wife was especially sad when it stopped working as she had incorporated it into her daily skincare routine.
Given the price, I expected better durability, and that experience left me hesitant about buying another one.
If Therabody improved the water resistance and offered better international support, I’d consider trying it again—because when it worked, it really was a great self-care tool.

TheraBody RecoveryAir JetBoots – Compression Therapy for the Legs
If I had to pick the most luxurious recovery tool I own, it would be the TheraBody JetBoots.
These are full-leg compression boots that inflate and deflate to massage your legs – but they are fully wireless. I got the Therabody RecoveryAir JetBoots to help with my recovering from basketball practices and games, and especially to help me feel fresher on long road trips.
Using them for the first time felt like having a gentle masseuse squeeze my feet, calves, and thighs from bottom to top.
The boots have multiple chambers that fill with air, hugging your legs and boosting circulation. After a hard practice, I’ll sit on the couch, zip on the RecoveryAir JetBoots, and let them work their magic for 20-60 minutes.
The difference in how my legs feel is astounding – any tightness or swelling in my calves is significantly reduced, and my legs feel lighter and fresher as if I hadn’t even practiced.
These boots have become my secret weapon on leg day or after long bus trips; as I recover faster and can hit my next practice or game harder.
Compression therapy always sounded a bit high-tech, but now that I’ve experienced it, I’m a believer.
It’s like a spa-grade leg massage you can do at home, anytime.
JetBoots are convenient because they are fully cordless (the pumps are integrated into the boots).
This is Therabody at its best: bringing what used to be elite athletic recovery into my living room for everyday self-care.
Therabody no longer makes new RecoveryAir JetBoots since they’ve already upgraded to the Jetboots PRO Plus, which no include. infrared light for heat and vibration therapy as well!
I have had my RecoveryAir JetBoots for two years, so I am sure I will ugrade to the new version soon!

TheraGun G5 Pro – Upgrading to the Next Generation
A couple of years later, I upgraded to the TheraGun G5 Pro, and it was clear Therabody had listened to user feedback and refined their flagship percussive masage gun dramatically.
The G5 Pro (5th Generation Theragun) retained the 16mm amplitude and deep muscle treatment of the G3, but it’s noticeably quieter and more ergonomic.
Where my G3 Pro roared like an power tool, the G5’s QuietForce motor purrs at a tolerable hum – a huge improvement when you’re using it daily.
The design also feels more polished: it has an OLED screen built in, so I can see and select guided routines on the device itself, and the grip triangle is rubberized for a more comfortable hold during longer sessions.
In terms of performance, the G5 Pro delivers the same 60 lbs of stall force(plenty for even my tightest knots) but with an even smoother operation.
I love the additional attachments that came with it, especially a micro-point attachment that really targets small trigger points.
Using the G5 after tough practices or workouts, I’ve noticed I recover faster – I experience less next-day soreness and more flexibility.
It’s incredible to feel how Therabody improved on an already great product: the G5 Pro feels like a professional-grade tool that I get to use at home, giving me pro-level muscle relief on demand.
The jump from G3 to G5 reaffirmed why I stick with Therabody – each new generation genuinely gets better, making the upgrade worth it.

Therabody Wave Roller – Vibrating Foam Roller
As a professional basketball player, I’ve used countless foam rollers throughout my career, but the Therabody Wave Roller has truly changed the game.
Unlike traditional foam rollers, this one incorporates vibration therapy, a unique wave-textured surface, and Bluetooth connectivity, making it one of the most advanced recovery tools available.
I initially picked it up to enhance my mobility routine, and after using it for years, I can confidently say it’s one of the best additions to my self-care regimen.
What sets the Wave Roller apart is its five vibration intensity levels, which allow for customized muscle relief.
The vibrations help relax muscle tissue and increase circulation, making foam rolling less painful and more effective.
I’ve found it particularly useful for targeting smaller, harder-to-reach areas, including my hip flexors, quadratus lumborum (QL), and lat muscles—areas that are often difficult to release with a standard roller.
The wave-textured surface also enhances pressure distribution, providing a deeper, more dynamic massage experience.
That said, I’ve noticed it’s not as effective for larger muscle groups like the hamstrings or adductors.
The 12-inch length makes it challenging to roll these areas efficiently in one motion, and while the density is firm enough for general use, it doesn’t provide the same deep tissue release as a denser roller or a Theragun.
For those bigger muscle groups, I typically pair the Wave Roller with my Theragun G5 Pro for a more comprehensive recovery session.
One of my favorite features is the Bluetooth connectivity, which syncs with the Therabody app for guided recovery routines.
It’s a great tool for beginners who may not know how to properly use a foam roller, and even for experienced athletes, it offers targeted recovery sessions that help maximize results.
The battery life is another plus, lasting up to 180 minutes per charge, making it easy to travel with and use on the go.
Incorporating the Wave Roller into my daily stretching and mobility routine has noticeably improved my flexibility, muscle recovery, and overall movement quality.
I particularly rely on it for my hip flexors and lats, which tend to get tight from the demands of basketball.
It’s also great for warming up before workouts and cooling down after intense training sessions.

TheraBody TheraFace Mask – LED Light Therapy for Relaxation & Skincare
I bought the TheraBody TheraFace Mask for my wife as a way to help her relax, take care of her skin, and manage headaches—and it has been one of her favorite self-care tools ever since.
With my basketball schedule keeping me away for long stretches, she has spent a lot of time at home alone with our son, and I wanted her to have something that could bring her a little peace and relaxation at the end of a long day.
The TheraFace Mask is an FDA-cleared LED light therapy mask designed to deliver red, infrared, and blue light therapy to improve skin health while also incorporating gentle vibration for added relaxation.
Unlike handheld LED devices, this mask is completely hands-free, strapping comfortably around the head so she can use it while unwinding in the evening.
She primarily uses it for three things:
- Headache Relief – The mask’s gentle temple vibrations seem to help ease tension headaches, especially after long days of being active with our son. She often puts it on for a few minutes while lying down, and it helps her decompress.
- Skincare – The red light therapy is her go-to for reducing fine lines and improving skin texture, while the blue light setting has helped calm occasional breakouts. Over a couple of months, she noticed her skin looking more even and radiant.
- Relaxation & Stress Relief – More than anything, the TheraFace Mask has become part of her nightly wind-down routine. It’s a simple, calming way to signal the end of a hectic day, and the warm light paired with the soothing vibrations creates a spa-like experience at home.
At $599, it was definitely an investment, but considering the cost of professional LED light therapy sessions, it has been worth it.
The mask has given her a small but meaningful way to unwind, and after all the time she’s spent managing things at home while I’ve been on the road for basketball, I know she deserves it.
Seeing how much she enjoys it has made me even more confident in Therabody’s products—not just for muscle recovery, but for true self-care and well-being.

TheraBody TheraCups – The Best DIY Cupping Machines for Muscle Relief
Cupping therapy has always intrigued me, especially seeing athletes with those distinctive red marks from treatments.
When the Therabody TheraCups were released, I knew I had to try them, so I bought two sets.
Now, after months of using them almost daily, I can confidently say these are the best at-home cupping devices available, and I can’t imagine life without them.
The TheraCups combine suction, heat, and vibration into one sleek, easy-to-use tool.
Unlike traditional cupping, which can be messy and difficult to control, these cups offer a modernized approach with adjustable intensity settings and built-in safety sensors.
You simply place a cup on the target muscle, let it create suction to lift and decompress the tissue, and enjoy the added warmth and vibration to enhance blood flow and relaxation.
For me, the IT bands and shoulder muscles are my favorite areas to target with the TheraCups.
My IT bands have always been notoriously tight from years of basketball, and using the cups along the outer thigh provides an intense but effective relief that I can feel immediately.
The real game-changer, though, has been using them on my left shoulder, where I’ve had lingering tightness ever since I tore my posterior labrum in college.
The TheraCups give me a level of relief I haven’t found anywhere else, allowing me to work through restrictions in my shoulder that normally limit my range of motion.
The combination of decompression, heat, and vibration feels like a deep-tissue massage but with a completely different technique—one that seems to unlock muscle tension from the inside out.
My wife and I both use the TheraCups almost every day for different reasons.
She loves them for neck tension and general relaxation, while I rely on them for muscle recovery and tight spots that foam rolling or Theragun alone don’t quite reach.
They are versatile, effective, and incredibly easy to use.
One of my favorite recovery routines is using the TheraCup to lift and loosen a tight area, followed by the Theragun to massage it out—a powerful one-two punch for stubborn knots.
TheraBody nailed it with this product. If you’re looking for a DIY cupping solution that actually works, these are, hands down, the best option available.
They’ve become an essential part of my recovery routine, and I can’t imagine going without them.

TheraBody TheraFace Depuffing Wand – A Thoughtful Skincare Upgrade
The TheraFace Depuffing Wand is the newest Therabody device in our home, and I actually just got it for my wife as a Women’s Day gift in 2025.
She loved the light therapy options from the TheraFace Pro, but after it broke from water damage (despite being marketed as waterproof), she was disappointed.
Since she still wanted something to help with skin quality and depuffing, I thought the Depuffing Wand would be the perfect alternative—offering cooling and warming treatments without the same risk of breaking.
We haven’t had it for long, but so far, it seems like a great addition to our skincare routine.
The sleek, handheld wandfeatures a metal tip that quickly cools or warms with the press of a button.
My wife has been using the cold setting(which has three intensity levels) under her eyes in the morning to reduce puffiness, and she’s noticed an immediate refreshing effect—the cool metal against her skin feels amazing and visibly reduces swelling.
In the evenings, she’s tried the heat setting (also with three levels) after applying serums, and she likes how it enhances absorption and provides a relaxing end-of-day treatment—almost like a hot stone massage for the face.
Even in just a short time, the Depuffing Wand already seems like a valuable skincare tool.
It’s portable, easy to use, and feels high-end, making it a great alternative to the TheraFace Pro for those who want temperature-based skincare benefits without the light therapy aspect.
If it holds up well over time, this could be one of the best new Therabody devices for skincare—and so far, my wife is loving it.

Final Thoughts: Should You Buy Therabody Products?
After years of using Therabody products, I can confidently say they are among the best self-care and recovery tools available.
From percussive therapy and electrical muscle stimulation to compression therapy and skincare innovations, Therabody has continuously improved its lineup, making each generation of devices more effective, user-friendly, and technologically advanced.
Their commitment to cutting-edge wellness technology is evident in every product I’ve used.
Whether it’s the powerful and refined Theragun G5 Pro, the innovative PowerDot EMS device, or the luxurious JetBoots Pro for compression therapy, each product has significantly enhanced my recovery, performance, and overall well-being.
Even in areas outside of traditional muscle recovery, like skincare, devices such as the TheraFace Pro and TheraFace Mask have proven to be high-quality self-care tools (despite a few durability concerns).
That said, no brand is perfect, and Therabody has room for improvement in a few key areas:
- Durability & Waterproofing – Some products, like the TheraFace Pro, have had issues with water resistance, despite being marketed as waterproof. Better durability would increase long-term value.
- International Support & Warranties – If you purchase from a third-party retailer, getting replacements or warranty support can be frustrating, something I personally experienced.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the core functionality and effectiveness of Therabody products make them worth the investment.
Their ability to improve muscle recovery, relieve tension, improve circulation, and even upgrade skincare routines proves that they are leading the self-care technology industry.
For athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone prioritizing recovery and wellness, Therabody’s lineup offers some of the best tools on the market.
If they continue refining their product durability and support, I have no doubt they will remain the gold standard for self-care and recovery devices.
